In this Classroom Spotlight, we step into a middle school science classroom to see how one teacher uses Progress Trackers not just as a record-keeping tool, but as a thinking tool to help students consolidate learning at the end of each lesson. She walks us through her routine: students first reflect and record what they’ve figured out individually in their Progress Trackers. Then, as a class, they synthesize the key ideas and add them to a shared “What We Figured Out” chart — making their collective learning visible. We also see how she updates a digital version of this chart that’s accessible to all students outside of class.
