At Bridging Science Gaps, we provide practical, collaborative, and equity-focused science professional learning. We help educators shift to student-centered, inquiry-based instruction through hands-on workshops, coaching, and customized professional development using high-quality, NGSS-aligned curricula like OpenSciEd. Our work strengthens teachers’ content knowledge, builds culturally responsive practices, and creates classrooms where all students engage in meaningful science. By partnering with schools and districts, we deliver tailored, sustainable support that improves outcomes for educators and learners.
Focus of OpenSciEd Work
At Bridging Science Gaps, our OpenSciEd work focuses on helping teachers implement high-quality, phenomenon-based science instruction that engages all students and promotes deep understanding. We support schools and districts in adopting and adapting OpenSciEd materials to fit their unique contexts, with a strong emphasis on equity, access, and instructional shifts aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Our services include professional development, instructional coaching, and curriculum customization to help educators build confidence with OpenSciEd’s student-centered approach. We also work closely with schools to ensure implementation addresses the needs of historically underserved learners, creating classrooms where every student can investigate, reason, and make sense of science.
Our goal is to support teachers in making small, manageable, yet meaningful instructional changes over time, building their confidence in making the instructional shifts needed to support all learners.
Supporting Equitable Science Instruction
At Bridging Science Gaps, we support equitable science instruction in schools and districts by helping educators strengthen teaching practices and engage all learners. We provide professional development, instructional coaching, and curriculum support that help teachers implement high-quality, student-centered science instruction. Bridging Science Gaps partners with school systems to strengthen science teaching and learning at every level. Our work begins with an in-depth needs assessment, including classroom observations and teacher feedback/surveys. We provide tailored support that helps districts build capacity, implement high-quality curricula, and create sustainable improvements in science education. By working collaboratively with educators, leaders, and communities, we help school systems create a strong foundation for equitable, engaging science learning.
