The unit overview in the teacher edition of each unit has a section called Guidance For Developing Your Word Wall. Within the appropriate lessons, you’ll see the word wall scaffolded in teacher slide notes as well as the teacher guides (in the Learning Plan Snapshot, Materials Preparation, and Learning Plans sections).

The OpenSciEd teacher handbook also has a section about use of word walls on pages 60-61 around Developing Scientific Language. It is important to note that OpenSciEd embraces the philosophy that front-loading vocabulary hinders the process of “figuring out” and also puts up barriers on emergent multilingual students to engage in class discussions. So vocabulary is introduced strategically during lessons through the use of the Word wall.
