This is a Facilitator Event!

Join us for the Middle School Facilitator Event! Designed for coaches, teacher leaders, and district or building leaders, this experience prepares you to lead high-quality OpenSciEd middle school professional learning in your school or district.

This facilitator pathway begins with pre-work and participation in one of the OpenSciEd Middle School Teacher Academy: Foundations Summer Kickoff sessions, where you will build your own understanding of the instructional model alongside classroom teachers. You will then deepen your learning during dedicated facilitator sessions on August 11–12, where the focus shifts from experiencing the learning to leading it.

With support from OpenSciEd experts and experienced facilitators, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to effectively guide adult learners and support strong implementation of OpenSciEd in classrooms.

During this professional learning experience, you will:

• Build a strong foundation in the OpenSciEd instructional model by engaging in Academy pre-work and attending a Summer Kickoff session.
• Unpack the purpose, structure, and design of the Middle School Academy experience.
• Analyze how professional learning is designed to support teacher growth and student outcomes.
• Develop strategies for facilitating whole group and small group sessions with adult learners.
• Prepare to plan and adapt professional learning experiences for your local context.

Following successful completion of all components, including pre-work, Summer Kickoff participation, facilitator sessions, and associated deliverables, participants will receive access to the full set of OpenSciEd Middle School professional learning materials to use at their sites. This access enables you to lead this work locally and build capacity within your system.

BY SIGNING UP, YOU ARE COMMITTING TO COMPLETING PRE-WORK, ATTENDING A SUMMER KICKOFF SESSION, AND FULL PARTICIPATION IN THE AUGUST 11–12 FACILITATOR SESSIONS AND ASSOCIATED DELIVERABLES REQUIRED TO ACCESS FACILITATION MATERIALS.
