During these sessions, you will:
– Immerse yourself in teaching and learning best practices anchored in compelling phenomena and in important community and global problems.
– Engage in lessons as a ‘student.’
– Reflect as a teacher and apply learning to your own context.
– Become an expert in navigating the resources embedded in the OpenSciEd materials so you can maximize your impact on student engagement and learning.
The majority of the three days will be spent diving into the first unit in the content area of your choice (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). You will also come together with all three content areas to discuss and reflect on the routines and resources that promote equitable science learning in high school.
Focal units for this event:
– Biology Unit 1: Ecosystems: Interactions, Energy, Dynamics
– Chemistry Unit 1: Thermodynamics in Earth’s Systems
– Physics Unit 1: Energy Flow from Earth’s Systems
Teachers:
– Four days of virtual professional learning via Zoom – January 21st – 24th
– Hours: 11:00am – 3:30pm Eastern (EST) daily; “lunch break” at 1:00pm EST
– $800 per participant

– Two additional half-days of virtual professional learning via Zoom January 17th and January 27th.
